ALLEN, DRAKE, VANMEERE, YOUNGBLUTT posted by Dianna Drake on Friday, February 25, 2000

Enos and Eliza (VANMEERE) ALLEN moved to Mercer County in the mid-late 1850s from Ontario, Canada. I have found some evidence that Enos ALLEN was born in New Hampshire in the late 1700s. I am a direct descendant of Joseph B. and Phebe (ALLEN) DRAKE who moved to Mercer County in the late 1850s from Canada. Other members of the family who moved with them include Joseph's brother John and Phebe's sister, Dianna (sp?) (John and Dianna were married), and Phebe's and Dianna's parents and most, if not all, of their brothers and sisters. I would be happy to share information - I am especially interested in finding obituaries for Phebe, Dianna, Joseph B., John, and Elizabeth YOUNGBLUTT DRAKE (my great grandmother - she married Joseph's son Enos). I am also trying to find information on Elizabeth's parents, Charles and Lydia YOUNGBLUTT - who may have lived in either Mercer County or Van Wert County. If you are reasearching this line, or if you are able to help with research in Mercer County, please e-mail me.

CLARK, COLLINS, CUMMINS, CUNNINGHAM, HASTINGS, PORTER, RALPH, WILEY posted by Margaret Hastings Hendrix on Tuesday, April 4, 2000

My Dad's maternal grandparents, Samuel and Sarah (PORTER) WILEY, probably came directly to Washington Tp., Mercer Co., OH, after they were married in May, 1847. There must have been somene or something that drew them so far inland to western OH. Who did they come to locate near?

I am searching for Dad's HASTINGS ancestors in Sussex Co., Delaware, and Maryland environs, from whence his grfa Wateman/Waitman Hastings (m. 1) Mary Elinor COLLINS; m. 2) Lillie CUNNINGHAM) migrated and settled in Gibson Tp., Mercer Co.

A dau of Waitman, "Ella" (Alafare) m. John RALPH, a cousin who had come from Delaware-Maryland area to visit relatives.

Did Wateman HASTINGS have relatives who had preceded him to w. OH? Oldest son and infant, Eli Thomas HASTINGS, accompanied them along with Mary E.'s parents, Solomon and 'Nancy' (_________ maiden name?, 1798/ 1873) COLLINS and their other children.

In Solomon COLLINS' Will of 1849, he lists first Major N. or R. - (desc.?); next 'Elner' HASTINGS (already married); Phelisa Jane (desc.?); F. Belsora (Fanny, m. T. McDANIEL); Sara Ann (desc.?); E.N. or E.W [later determined to be E.H. from tombstone of 'Betsy', Elizabeth H. CUMMINS, "formerly wife of Wm. H. CLARK", 1st husb who d. at age 28, apparently leaving 5 children].

Lastly in Solomon's will: "Real estate Gibson Tp. to my sons John F. (Fremont) & Solomon J." (Solomon J. died in Civil War 1863.)

I am wondering what happened to Major at top of the list.

I know some CLARK desc. of 'Betsy' Collins Clark Cummins. Would like contact with more of them, and with McDANIEL desc. and desc. of the others who know they are related.
