A Message from the Director:
Welcome to the web site for the Mercy/Methodist Hospital of Sacramento Family Practice Residency Program!
A community-based "FP-only" residency training program at a suburban primary care hospital with additional experience at a nearby urban tertiary care hospital.
Located in Sacramento, California, between San Francisco and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
A program of excellence that received commendation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for excellence in resident training.
A program dedicated to teamwork, professionalism, mutual support and physician wellness.
The abundant teaching resources at Mercy Healthcare Sacramento help to create a program characterized by a broad patient base, strong community presence, and a sophisticated educational foundation. The emphasis of training is on the three major areas which make today’s family physician successful in the current and future healthcare environment: excellent medical knowledge and skills (particularly in the primary care clinic), behavioral medicine and practice management. Our training program integrates all three components for better learning and practical application. Yet our subspecialty and inpatient training remain superb, thanks to the dedication and support of our specialists. In addition, our comprehensive community service program, including community healthcare and outreach, continues to be one of our major missions.
The diversity of our faculty, residents and patient population enhances our quality. Our faculty strive to live up to their reputation of being the most supportive and approachable faculty in training programs. The friendly, supportive and yet competent learning environment maximizes the educational experience of our residents. This experience is heightened by the use of technology for medical information.
Again welcome and have fun while you surf around. If you have any questions, please call us or send me an e-mail.
