| During
installation, a dialog appears warning that email acceleration is
disabled because another LSP was detected. Why is it? |
This dialog is a warning
stating that e-mail acceleration is not possible on this computer due to
a software conflict. A previously program on the computer such as a file
sharing program inserted a module into the Layered Service Provider (LSP)
of the Windows TCP/IP protocol, and this module wasn't properly removed.
However, the web acceleration will still work properly. If you would
like to have e-mail acceleration, the other LSPs must be removed
followed by with a re-installation of the Accelerator. You can fix this
problem by running a third-party fix utility on this
web page. |
| Another
application is using port 25 or port 110. |
By default, the Accelerator
listens on the IP address of 127.0.0.1 on port 25 for e-mail being sent
out and port 110 for mail being received via POP3 and redirecting
traffic through the SpeedWeb Web Accelerator. This warning shows that
some other application on the computer is listening on either one of
these ports. However, the web acceleration will still work properly. If
you would like to have e-mail acceleration, you need to disable the
application that’s listening on the specified port(s). |

| "SlipStream
Web Accelerator cannot connect to the SlipStream Service..." |
Here is a step-by-step list of
things you should verify:
- Check to see that the
number you are dialing into ends in -1856.
- Check that you have
successfully connected to CalWeb in your usual manner (e.g. Did your
dial-up connection successfully connect to CalWeb?). This step is
independent of whether or not you launch SlipStream Web Accelerator.
- Verify that the Connection
information located in the Settings dialog is the same as that
provided to you by CalWeb Internet Services.
- If you are running firewall
software, make sure that a firewall rule is present that allows
access to the Remote Server Port (located in the Advanced Connection
Settings dialog.) In most cases, these are ports 5400
and 7000.
- Try uninstalling SlipStream
Web Accelerator (Go into Control Panel, then click on Add/Remove
Programs, then select SlipStream Web Accelerator) and
then re-install it.
- Contact CalWeb to verify
that the SlipStream Service is up and running.
Now try restarting SlipStream
Web Accelerator by exiting the program and then relaunching it.

| "The
SlipStream Service does not allow connections from your current IP
address..." |
The most likely reason you
would receive this error is when you connect to the Internet using a
different service provider other than CalWeb Internet or using a non-SpeedWeb
number. CalWeb only allows you to use the SlipStream Service when
connected to a CalWeb SpeedWeb number that ends in -1856. |
| "Your
username and/or password were not accepted by the SlipStream
Service..." |
The login credentials you
specified on the Settings -> Connection tab were
not valid. CalWeb Internet requires you to enter a valid username
(i.e. joeuser,
no @calweb.com) and password to use the SlipStream Service. Click here
for information on how to set your username and password. |
| "The
SlipStream Service could not be started due to an authentication timeout
..." |
Ensure that the authentication
information provided to you by CalWeb has been keyed in correctly. Also,
try reconnecting to CalWeb. If the problem persists, please contact
CalWeb Technical Support for assistance. |
| "The
SlipStream Service indicated that it has insufficient resources to
handle your connection..." |
Try restarting Windows, then
reconnect to CalWeb. If the problem persists, please contact CalWeb
Technical Support for assistance. |
| "A
response was not received from the server within a reasonable period of
time..." |
Try restarting SlipStream Web
Accelerator. If the problem persists, please contact CalWeb Technical
Support for assistance. |
| "SlipStream
Web Accelerator has stopped because the connection to the remote host
has been closed." |
Try restarting SlipStream Web
Accelerator. If the problem persists, please contact CalWeb Technical
Support for assistance.
