Important information regarding websites that use Microsoft's FrontPage Extentions.
In late 2006 Microsoft announced that FrontPage 2003 would be the last version of their web publishing software FrontPage to be released. Microsoft will no longer add updates or features to this software in the future thus
FrontPage has reached its end of life (EOL). As a result, FrontPage server extensions are no longer being updated for our web servers preventing us from updating them, IE they are stuck in 2006! Because this software has not been updated since 2006 it has limited functionality and some incompatibilities with new software versions as well as security vulnerabilities allowing someone to "hack" a FrontPage website. Not to mention our 2006 Unix OS is far behind and since then many updates and improvements to the web server software have left us with no choice but to finally end our support of the FrontPage extensions.
If you used FrontPage server extensions here are a few other options you can work with instead:
1) Continue using FrontPage without the server extensions
Build your pages locally and use FrontPage built in FTP functionality or an external ftp client
2) Try these other publishing software options:
Commercial Software
Shareware, Open Source Software
The schedule to end FrontPage support is as follows:
January 15th 2009 - All non-business user pages. IE, websites located at: http://www.calweb.com/~username
February 15th 2009 - All business websites. Please note, this date does not mean your website will stop working! We will slowly phase out business Front Page websites as they are converted over. CalWeb Staff will assist and move those sites that do not require extentive work. Afterwards you can STILL CONTINUE using Front Page to develop the website locally (as you do now) and then send your website to CalWeb via FTP. A step-by-step instruction on how to do this will be available shortly.
To help with this transition we have installed replacement scripts for some of the standard and most widely used FrontPage features, namely counters and forms. You'll just need to change your pages to use the standard counter and feedback form scripts we provide. You might want to make this change now so that you're prepared for when extensions are uninstalled and your website is moved to our updated web servers. Visit THIS LINK for information on replacing counters and forms.
If you're using other special FrontPage extensions beyond the counter or feedback form, particularly the guestbook or search box extensions, you will find these features will no longer work after the dates above and will need to use alternate methods.
If you need any assistance working around this change please feel free to contact our support staff via email at

(no calls please as our tech support service will be unable to help you except to refer the call up to the next level).
Because of the nature of personal websites, our support will be limited to providing information on how to use our counter and form replacements.
For our business hosted websites, we will assist you in converting your pages for a minimal fee depending on the complexity of the website. However, we've found a large majority of websites that are using FrontPage are not actually using special FrontPage features. These websites will be converted to our new web servers at no charge. In addition, if you haven't changed your website or feel that it needs some long needed changes, now would be a good time to think about doing that. We'll be more then happy to assist you with your changes and are offering 50% off our normal $75 per hour web consulting fee! Email us at

When your website is moved you'll receive a notification from us. At that time you should check out your website as soon as possible to verify that it is operating correctly.
