. .That's like asking "What's in a name?". You've heard of a 'gene pool'. Sure, you have. You know, genetics and chromosomes and jokes like "What's in your genes/jeans?" Well, a 'Genea Pool' is a slightly larger concept. It's a kind of macro-genetics, a study of generations and pedigrees. In this case, the use of the root word genea alludes to a study of families, more commonly known as Genealogy.
When you study the ancestry of a pure bred dog or thoroughbred horse, you build a pedigree. Those who study genealogy deal with human pedigrees. But a 'Genealogy' has become more than a collection of biological relationships. A modern-day genealogist also collects the social background and uses history and social documents like marriage and birth certificates to substantiate their findings. In the hands of a skilled genealogist, a family's history through time can be compiled.

It's truly amazing what you can learn about your ancestry. I always thought I derived from mid-19th century German immigrants. That is my father's background. I hadn't reckoned on my mother's families. Some of them were Quaker and came to Philadelphia in the 1680's! Sometimes I kid myself into thinking I'm doing research. But all kidding aside, I do collect information that I find or others send me. I've collected a lot--over 40,000 linked names in a genealogical database. You can get an overview of my personal collection through links from my Ahnentafel (below) or selecting a surname from the tables at the beginning and end of this page.
I've never lived in Darke Co. myself (my great-grandmother left there in 1914) and have only visited the place a few times in my life. My mother's mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandparents (get the picture?) were born there. Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles contains the remains of 5 generations of my ancestors. My parents expect to be buried there (for generation 6), and, when I pass on, I hope to be planted there myself (for generation 7). Just down the road from Versailles are several more cemeteries devoted to smaller subsets of the residents of the area, and I have ancestors and cousins buried there as well. My family is in Darke Co. although I've never lived there!
